Experience Serenity at Our Waterside Campuses

Immerse yourself in the serene landscapes of Kymenlaakso County at Kymenlaakson Opisto. Our two picturesque campuses in Southeast Finland offer unique educational experiences. Our Kouvola campus in the suburbs of Inkeroinen sits along the banks of the Kymi River, while our second campus is located at the enchanting Poitsila Manor House in Hamina, overlooking the Eastern Gulf of Finland.

Educational Philosophy and Courses

Our educational philosophy, rooted in the rich traditions of Folk High School, emphasizes Visual Arts and Finnish Language Courses. At Kouvola, delve into a range of  Visual Arts,  such as painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, photography, video, comics and design, all taught in Finnish.

Our language centers in both campuses offer Finnish courses for foreigners at various proficiency levels. These courses are ideal for immigrants integrating into Finnish society or individuals residing and working in the region.

Student Life and Opportunities

Each year, we guide over 200 full-time students. Our courses, ranging from a term to a year, cater adults (18+) who are seeking to explore new interests or plan for the future.

Course fees may apply, and residents may be eligible for government-supported study grants. For enrollment details, course offerings, evening classes, or fee information, please contact us.

Embrace Lifelong Learning as a Community

Beyond formal education, our Community Learning Courses during the term are open for all ages. These courses cover a spectrum of interests, from pottery, woodwork, and language studies to yoga, weaving, music, and more.
